Water Ride touched by the Local, traditional Gastronomy

We offer it for those who would take part not only in a romantic paddling tour on the River Túr and the Upper –Tisza but try our local specialities as well. Suggested for people who prefer returning from the day trips to the most comfortable tents or rooms with (private) bath. Leaving Tiszabecs each day, you can paddle on the rivers –Tisza and ’Te Old Túr’ - or ride a bike throughout touching some cultural and historical sights of North- Eastern Hungary

A planned schedule:

Day 1.  Arrival on ’Vidám Delfin Kemping” (Happy Dolphin campsite), Tiszabecs.

Day 2.  Travel to the dam called „kisbukó” (near Sonkád). Half of the group travels by bus, the other by bike (11 km). Paddling on the River ’Old Túr” to the local countryside museum, Kölcse. Return to the campsite. Dinner in Restaurant Vidám Delfin’

Day 3.  After breakfast leaving for Kölcse (to the museum) by bike or by bus. Padling on the most romantic reach of the Túr. Arrival at Water mill Campsite, Túristvándi. Trying some bread- made ’langosh” (fried dough) then pay a visit for thr famous water mill. Going home to Tiszabecs on horse- drawn carriages, stopping in Tiszacsécse in between (Móricz memorial). Home made roasted pig for dinner  at the campsite.

Day 4.  Water trip from Tiszabecs to Szatmárcseke on River Tisza (24 r.km). Bathing facilities at the dam till the afternoon hours. Dinner in Szatmárcseke at 5 p.m. after dinner take a walk in the world- famous wooden headboarded cemetery.

Day 5.  After breakfast have a go to Szatmárcseke. W ater trip to Tivadar on one of the most spectacular sandy reaches of the Tisza (15 r.km). Then, travelling to Tarpa. Having tasted some precious dishes of the local gastronomy, walking tour to the local hill ’Big Mountain of Tarpa’. Back home to Tiszabecs, Dinner.

Day 6.  After breakfast have a go to Tivadar then start a water trip to Gergelyiugornya (20 r.km). Dinner back in Tiszabecs.

Day 7.  After breakfast, resting and bathing. Return journey.

Sights to visit: The dam „kisbukó”; the remembrance house of the great Hungarian writer Móricz Zsigmond in Tiszacsécse; bellfries; the outstanding wooden- headboarded cemetery in Szatmárcseke, graveyard of Kölcsey, author of our national anthem; the unique watermill in Túristvándi; the classical mill in Tarpa;

Delicate specialities to drink and eat: plum- ’pálinka” in Szatmár- style; home- cooking roasted piglet; stuffed cabbage in Szatmár- style; bean- soup with cabbage; fish soup; noodles filled with plum jam; ’knot”- soup (egg and onion- filled, long pasta , knotted);  roasting- pot meat in Szatmár- style; ’fritter”(traditional doughnut) filled with plum jam; bread- made ’langosh” (fried dough); pork sausages and chitterlings.

Departing days: 19- 25 June, 10- 16 July, 31 July - 06 August, 21- 27. August 2010

At least 25 people are required to get the tour started.

Participation fee: 35.700 HUF (at camping site), 45.800 HUF (at guest- house)
